Beku Golba

450 beneficiaries now have clean water from a capped spring leading into an overnight storage unit and distribution point. Beku Golba is 60km north of Addis Ababa and the clean water is also used by the local school and health post. Project constructed in 2011. Hygiene and Sanitation programmes provided in 2011 and 2014.

APPROXIMATELY 5300 HELPED TO DATE

2

Saglie

500 beneficiaries now have clean water from a capped spring leading into an overnight storage unit and distribution point. Saglie is located 54km north of Addis Ababa. Project constructed in 2012 with a school hygiene and sanitation drama club being formed as part of the programme.

3

Dodo

550 beneficiaries now have clean water from a capped spring leading into a distribution pipe. Dodo is 52km north of Addis Ababa. Project constructed in 2012 with a Hygiene and Sanitation programme being provided too. Original plans for the pipe work to be connected to a distribution point were changed due to local farmers deciding that the water needed to be used for their crops too.

4

Gura Ferda

1500 beneficiaries now have clean water as a result of Water4Ethiopia and EOC-DICAC's project proposal. We were unable to fund this project as the cost of transporting cement meant the project price was above the budget we had set, but as a result of our plans, the beneficiaries were then able to convince other sources to fund the project. Gura Ferda in the Bench Majji Zone is 588km south west of Addis Ababa. Project constructed in 2012.

5

Ababari

350 beneficiaries now have clean water from a hand-dug well. Ababari is located 360km north east of Addis Ababa in the Goncha Siso Enesie Woreda, one of 35 woredas of the East Gojam administration zone in the Amhara Region. Project constructed in 2015. A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.

6

Kolle

335 beneficiaries now have clean water from a protected well that was dug by hand, with a hand pump for distribution. Kolle is also located in the Goncha Siso Enersie Woreda. Project constructed in 2015. A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.

7

Kidanemihret

375 beneficiaries now have clean water from a hand-dug well.  Kidanemihret is located in the Goncha Siso Enersie Woreda.  Project constructed in 2015. A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.

Special thanks to Beverley Hills' fundraising towards this project.

8

Lower Woibla

250 beneficiaries now have access to clean water from a hand-dug well with a hand pump for distribution.  The Lower Woibla community were drinking from an unprotected spring and a stream found in a water basin with the population living in the surrounding hills. When we met members of the community they were assisting each other with the building of a new wooden house so we were sure there was a strong community spirit. Sadly Trachoma exists amongst children. Lower Woibla is also located in the Goncha Siso Enersie Woreda. Project constructed in 2015.

A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.

9

Maje-Azwara

375 beneficiaries now have clean water from a hand-dug well.  The Maje-Azwara communities were drinking from an unprotected spring which they shared with animals. Maje-Azwara is located in the Goncha Siso Enersie Woreda. Project constructed in 2015. A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.

10

Mewagna

375 beneficiaries from the Mewagna community now have clean water from a hand-dug well. The community was drinking from an unprotected spring which they shared with animals. Mewagna is located in the Goncha Siso Enersie Woreda. Project constructed in 2015. A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.

11

Kufif

250 beneficiaries now have access to clean water from a hand-dug well. The community was drinking from an unprotected spring just meters from a death-defying cliff face.  Whilst the views each morning from the spring were spectacular, the water quality was one of the worst we’ve seen to date. The hand-dug well has been constructed much closer to the beneficiaries’ homes and therefore the risk of harm when collecting water has been greatly reduced. Kufif is also located in the Goncha Siso Enersie Woreda. Project constructed in 2015. A Hygiene and Sanitation programme is also being founded.
