£3291 Raised by one-off donations and £1 a week pledges

We have sent off Water4Ethiopia’s application for UK registered charity status.
Please help even more communities in Ethiopia by filing out the standing order form now.

Why we want to become a registered charity

  1. Increased Donations
We believe that it will be far easier to gain donations from people we do not know once we are a registered charity.  This will allow us to canvass in shopping centers, gain donations from churches and generally expand our collection capabilities so that we can help as many projects in Ethiopia as possible.
  2. Transparency
We want the UK’s Charities Commission, supporters and donors to have full access to our accounts, annual reports, project receipts and anything else that they require.  This way every stakeholder can have the upmost confidence in Water4Ethiopia, see that 100% of the money raised goes to Ethiopia and with everyone’s help we can improve on our aim: to help as many in Ethiopia to receive the most basic of charitable needs, clean water.
  3. Donations from Employers
The vast majority of UK firms who have a give-as-you-earn scheme or employee give-and-match scheme will only give donations to UK registered charities. Whilst working for RBC Capital Markets, they very kindly donated £1000 to the the Beku Golba project. However we tried to put this through Christian Aid, but unfortunately they were unable to send the money to EOC-DICAC even though they already help the NGO. By becoming a UK registered charity we can hopefully still receive this £1000 and any additional donations from UK firms.

Please Can We Have Your Kind Help?

In order to hit our £5,000 target we are pleading for 35 friends of the Trustees to become Founding Supporters for our Water4Ethiopia charity.

We would like our Founding Supporters to kindly agree to DONATING £1 a week for a year to Water4Ethiopia, with every penny going to Ethiopia.  In most cases we will also be able to claim Gift Aid of an extra 28p per month from the UK Government for every £1 you donate.

We would like to then put your £1 a week towards a specific Founding Supporters Water Project, that will be identified when I next visit Ethiopia next spring. We will keep you updated with an e-newsletter every 3 months so that you can see where your donation is going and tell you specifically about the people whose lives you are quite literally transforming. We will also try our best to let you know the names of the people you are supporting, a bit about them and we will try and take a photo too.

We really want you to know how much you have helped

If you feel you are able to give £1 a week please complete our Standing Order form

Ameuseugenallo - Thank you!

By agreeing to donate £1 a week for a year and filling in the standing order form this acts as enough proof to the Charities Commission that we will be able to raise over £5,000 in year 1 as a charity and therefore gain registered charity status.

Thank you – we’re very grateful for your support, particularly during our infancy.
